Happy New Year! 2009 is upon us and we are all facing it with a bit or trepidation. Here at Powerchex we are optimistic that 2009 will be a good year for financial services and for our industry in general.

We chose to start the year with a very uplifting article from a great man. Trewin Restorick is the CEO of Global Action Plan and one of Al Gore’s UK Climate Change Ambassadors. Trewin has worked with many City firms to help them make a difference to their carbon footprint, but what makes his organisation special is that he has done it by engaging every employee in the business. I have seen Trewin’s team in action and the results he achieves are consistently incredible. Read on.

From the Powerteam, we wish you a prosperous and happy 2009.

For instance, energy prices have soared by a third over the last year. In the uncertainty of a recession, businesses are increasingly looking at the financial savings that can be made by reducing energy use, fuel use and waste. These savings are dependant on changing employee behaviour and can be driven by HR departments.
